Seasons
Ashgate plays out in chapters. Every season is a fresh fight for the same city.
Season Zero — where we are now
Season Zero is Ashgate's closed beta: a real, playable chapter used to test crimes, families, the economy, and combat balance with early players. Progress, balance, and rules may still change before a full public launch — that's the point of a founder season, not a flaw in it. Early players keep permanent Founder recognition regardless of what changes.
Why seasons reset
Ashgate's premise is a power vacuum with no one permanently on top. If rankings and territory never reset, the game would eventually just have one settled outcome. Seasons keep the fight for the city genuinely open — new players always have a real shot at a first-season name.
Fair competition
Rank, cash, and combat outcomes are never for sale, and the backend is the sole source of truth for all of it — no client-side shortcuts, no pay-to-win combat advantage, ever.
Season One: Power Vacuum
Season One is planned as Ashgate's full public launch, once Season Zero has proven the systems out. No launch date is set yet — when there is one, it'll be announced here and through the beta waitlist, not buried in patch notes.
